Vinegar Hill House is a relaxed restaurant in an unassuming and historical part of the Brooklyn waterfront.  

Our intent is to use the best ingredients possible through developing relationships with like-minded produce, meat and fish producers, to compose artful and satisfying eats out of our wood-fired oven. 

When the weather is nice we welcome guests for brunch or dinner in our quiet garden, under a cherry tree.

Take the F train to the York Street station. Exit the station and walk two blocks west on Jay Street to Front Street. Turn right and walk three blocks to Hudson Avenue. Make a left and follow until you reach #72.

Cross the Manhattan Bridge to Brooklyn. Take the first exit on the right. Merge onto Jay Street, continue to the stop sign at Prospect Street. Turn right, make a quick left onto Bridge Street. Turn right onto Front Street, then continue two blocks to Hudson Avenue.

Vinegar Hill House is open for dinner Wednesday, Thursday, & Sunday from 5:30pm to 9:30pm and Friday & Saturday evening from 5:30pm to 10pm.

Brunch is served 10am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday.

We are closed Monday and Tuesday.

Please note, we do our final seating 15 minutes before the restaurant closes.


In compliance with city regulations and in order to best protect our staff and guests from exposure to coronavirus, Vinegar Hill House is requiring that all diners who wish to sit indoors to provide proof of vaccination.

Guests who wish to dine indoors must show either their vaccination card, a photo of their card, or an Excelsior Pass.

We are also asking that all guests wear their masks while moving around the restaurant and while any VHH employees are at their table. 

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate safety protocols.

We ask that you honor your reservation time. We will hold a table for up to 15 minutes after the reservation time. Now more than ever, we have limited space and cannot accommodate changes in reservation time or party size. 

We plan for 1.5 hours for parties of 2-3 guests and allow 2 hours for parties of 4+. It is important that we adhere to these times as our seating capacity is significantly diminished.

The restaurant has three dining options. The Sidewalk and the Garden dining areas are both outdoors so it's important to be mindful of the weather when booking these tables. Indoor dining will be a return to our Main Dining Room and our Fireside Dining Room. Diners joining us indoors must wear a mask while away from their table.

Your reservation will clearly state which dining area you have reserved. Please be aware that we will not be able to accommodate last-minute changes to your reservation. 

Our Garden dining option is not covered. In the event of rain, guests will have the option to move indoors. Both the Garden and Sidewalk areas have space heaters installed.

We welcome all well-behaved dogs in our Sidewalk dining area in front of the restaurant. Due to Department of Health regulations, animals are not permitted inside the restaurant. Service animals are allowed throughout the restaurant.
